Join your host Garhdo as they look at The Cabin in the Woods, a revitalizing twist on the horror genre that is 10 years old this year. By dissecting this film, that plays with horror tropes and genre conventions, and is one that they have been fascinated with themself, Garhdo will attempt to explain why they think it is an essential viewing for any fan of the horror genre. Spoilers will be clearly marked, as this is a film where you get the full benefit going in as blind as you can, but Garhdo will discuss why the plot of this film has stuck with them for so many years, as one that they keep thinking about, in a way that they don’t with many other horrors. Hopefully this exploration will encourage you to revisit this critical gem.

Halloween Special 02

October 31st 2022

For it’s ten year anniversary I decided to go back and look at a subversive horror that I absolutely love, which is Cabin in the Woods. Despite only seeing it a handful of times, and it being almost impossible to turn into a huge franchise, I genuinely think that this deserves to be a classic of the genre, as it is an unashamed love letter to Horror.

Plenty of spoiler discussion in this one, which is unavoidable really to truly discuss it, so I recommend watching the film first.
